Preview: Dragons Clash with Cougars in NSIC Tournament Quarterfinals

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead men's basketball will clash with the University of Sioux Falls in the NSIC Tournament Quarterfinals. The game against the Cougars will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday inside the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
            
The Dragons finished the regular season at 22-6 and 17-5 against NSIC opponents after defeating both Minot State and the University of Mary last weekend to solidify the Dragons' first round bye. Sophomore Jacob Beeninga leads the Dragons in points per game with 17.3. Beeninga also leads the team in steals per game with 1.5. Senior Gavin Baumgartner leads the team in assists per game with 4.3. Junior Dane Zimmer leads the team in rebounds per game with 8.1. Zimmer collected his 700th rebound in the game against the University of Mary.
            
Tim Bergstraser is in his first season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

About Sioux Falls 

The Cougars finished 18-10 on the regular season and 13-9 against NSIC opponents after falling to Wayne State and defeating Augustana last weekend. Sioux Falls defeated St. Cloud State in the NSIC Tournament first round 85-59 on Tuesday. Graduate student Matt Cartwright leads the team in points per game with 21.9. Redshirt Sophomore Noah Puetz leads the team in rebounds per game with 5.2. Junior Jack Thompson leads the team in assists per game with 3.9. Chris Johnson is in his 15th season as head coach at the University of Sioux Falls.
