Arina Bratamidjaja all set new season and/or personal bests at the first day of the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships. The two Dragon relay teams that participated today also clocked in season-best times.
MSUM sits in eighth place after one day.
Johnson reset her collegiate personal best in the morning session's 200-yard IM preliminaries. The freshman swam a 2:16.70, which topped her previous best of 2:19.60. Sullivan also clocked in a new season best in the same event, swimming a 2:26.87 which was better than her previous mark of 2:30.41.
During the first session, Bratamidjaja swam an 11:37.63 in the 1000-yard freestyle preliminaries. This time was better than her previous season-best of 11:39.90 which was set back in November in the triangular dual with Concordia-St. Paul and the University of Jamestown.
Lenmark set a new season best in the 50-yard freestyle, swimming a 26.62, besting her previous best mark by four-tenths of a second. Haas also set a new personal record in the same event, besting her previous mark by nearly two seconds.
In the finals session, the team of Johnson,
Lacie Stark,
Linnea Edgren and
Demi-Lee Carlisle swam a 1:49.29 in the 200-yard medley relay to finish in a tie for 10th place. The Dragons finished seventh in the A final with the time which is a season-best for the team. Edgren swam a 27.14 to open the relay, Johnson would clock in a blazing 29.64 in the breaststroke portion of the relay.
The final event of the evening, the 200-yard freestyle relay, saw the team of Carlisle, Johnson,
Taylor Cook and
Lily Lengerich swim a season-best time of 1:39.05 to finish ninth. This beat their previous top mark of 1:41.44.
Day two of the NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Events scheduled for tomorrow's morning session are preliminary heats of the 100-yard fly, the 400-yard IM and the 200-yard fly. 1-meter diving preliminaries will take place at 1 p.m. tomorrow. Final heats of all those events begin at 5:30 p.m.
