Madelynn Johnson set a new personal best in the 100-yard butterfly while
Isabelle Johnson tallied her highest career point total in 1-meter diving to lead MSUM on day two of the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships.
Madelynn Johnson set a new personal record in the 100-yard butterfly preliminaries. The freshman swam a 1:00.09 to best her previous top mark 1:00.56 set at the Rochester Invite. That time qualified Johnson for the C final in the event later in the evening. In that final, Johnson improved her time to a new personal-best of 59.37.
Taylor Cook swam a 2:00.18 in the preliminary heats of the 200-yard freestyle.
Arina Bratamidjaja clocked in a 2:08.68 in the same event.
In 1-meter diving,
Isabelle Johnson scored 266.95 points in the preliminary rounds. It is the highest total of Johnson's young career. Today, Johnson competed in just the third collegiate meet of her career.
In the final event of the evening, the team of Johnson, Cook,
Demi-Lee Carlisle and
Linnea Edgren swam a 4:02.29 in the 400-yard medley relay. That mark shaved almost a second off of their seed time. In the B final, the team of
Lacie Stark,
Molly Lenmark,
Maggie Sullivan and
Lily Lengerich shaved nearly six seconds off of their seed time with a mark of 4:18.36. Stark (59.93) and Lengerich (55.14) each swam under one minute with Stark setting a new personal best in the backstroke portion of the relay.
The Dragons are ninth as a team after two days with 46 team points.

Day three of the NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships is set to begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning with preliminary rounds of the 500-yard freestyle,100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard butterfly. Final heats for those events and the 800-yard freestyle relay will begin at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow.
