MSUM Soccer Falls in Mankato

MANKATO, Minn. – MSU Moorhead soccer fell at ninth-ranked Minnesota State on Friday afternoon, 9-0. 
 
The Mavericks would strike quickly late in the third minute as they would go on the offensive attack from MSUM's end of the field. Minnesota State would put together a nice run, culminating in a ball to Maddix Archer, who fired a ball past Rylee Truslow. Through 17 minutes, Minnesota State would turn in four shots on goal. Truslow would make a phenomenal diving save off a header in the 15th minute. 
 
Minnesota State would score again late in the 17th minute to go up 2-0. The Mavericks would score their third goal in the 26th minute as MSU had seven shots on goal through 28 minutes of play. By the halftime break, Minnesota State led 4-0 behind 12 shots on goal. 
 
The Mavericks would not waste much time in the second half, scoring a pair of goals within 60 seconds early. Madalynn Hopkins would have a pair of chances in the 62nd and 68th minutes with both being stopped by Minnesota State keeper Lauren McAlpine. The Mavericks would score in the 70th minute to lead, 7-0. Mary Cox registered a shot shortly after the Minnesota State goal, which was stalled by McAlpine. 
 
Hopkins would shoot again in the 75th minute as would Izabela Flores with McAlpine turning away both attempts. Minnesota State scored a necessary goal in the 83rd minute to go up 8-0. The final score was 9-0 in favor of the Mavericks. 

Truslow finished with a Dragon career-high 12 saves.
