Dragon Women's Basketball Signs Three to 2025 Class

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead women's basketball is excited to add three incoming freshmen to the class of 2025. All three future Dragons made the signings official on National Signing Day.

"We are extremely excited to finally announce the signing of Sydney, Abby, and Aubrey. We believe they are fantastic fits to our campus life, community and team.  All three student-athletes are well decorated in school and on the court," said MSUM head women's basketball coach Karla Nelson. "All three are great competitors who bring a unique, athletic skill set and we look forward to helping them contribute to our Dragon program in the near future."

The signees are as follows:

Sydney Dahl - PF/C (6-0, Glenwood, Minn. - Minnewaska Area HS)

Has started and played 80 career games for Minnewaska Area High School, tallying 804 points, 443 rebounds, 125 blocks and 111 steals heading into her senior season…has a career-high of 25 points as well as a 14-rebound effort…is a two-time all-conference honoree while also earning the West Central Conference's MVP award in 2023..was named her team MVP in 2024 as well…also competed in tennis where she was a member of three conference championship teams…Daughter of Shawna and Ben Dahl. Plans to major in business.

Coach Karla Nelson: "Sydney is an athletic forward with both post and guard skills. She is the perfect "tweener' for us where she will be able to play in the post as well as step out and help us stretch the floor. Defensively, she has the ability to guard multiple positions. She is just scratching the surface and we are very excited about the athleticism she will bring to our team."

Aubrey Morrison - G (5-6, Walker, Minn. - Walker-Hackensack-Akeley HS)

Has been the starting point guard for Walker-Hackensack-Akeley since she was in eighth grade…has accumulated 1,921 points heading into her senior season…set single-season scoring records for the program in 2022-23 and again in 2023-24…has been an all-conference honoree since eighth grade while also earning all-state honors in 2023-24...also competed in volleyball…Daughter of Marlee and Randall Morrison. Undecided major.

Coach Karla Nelson: "Aubrey can flat out shoot the basketball. She is an underrated point guard, who can also play some off guard. She is another addition that can score from all three levels and she brings a gritty toughness to the floor that we absolutely love. She will help us stretch the floor and gives us a shooter who can get her shot off in a variety of ways. "

Abby John - G (5-9, Barnesville, Minn. - Barnesville HS)

Has played in 72 career games for Barnesville High School, starting in 55 of those contests…led her team in scoring three of her four seasons heading into her senior season…has scored a total of 1,412 points through her junior year…is a four-time all-conference honoree and was an all-state honorable mention in 2023-24…was also team captain…also competed in volleyball where she was an all-conference performer as well. Daughter of Kristi and Steve John. Plans to major in exercise science.

Coach Karla Nelson: "Abby is an athletic guard who adds a scoring punch to our perimeter game. She had a great summer and she truly has become a threat from all three levels on the floor: craftiness to the rim, mid-range game and can shoot from deep. She also adds great length on the perimeter, which will make a difference on both ends of the floor."
