MINOT, N.D. – MSU Moorhead would see the 2024 season conclude on Thursday afternoon. The Dragons were defeated by Minot State, 4-0.
Minot State would engage both offenses near the fifth minute with the match's first shot on goal.
Quinn Carter would step in to make the save before stalling another Beaver attempt shortly thereafter. Less than a minute later,
Sophie Thompson would register MSUM's first shot on goal with the attempt being stopped by Minot State keeper Siriana Gudino.
Neither team would register a shot on goal until the 17
th minute when the Beavers broke the scoreless tie. Minot State would turn in a high shot from an angle that proved to be a difficult save for Carter. The kick would end up landing in the top corner of the net for the match's first score. Carter would stop three more Beaver attempts on net before the 21
st minute.
Minot State would score again in the 27
th minute on a distant shot from Sofia Galvez. The senior would launch a strike from roughly 35 yards away. The attempt was again high and headed towards the corner, making it past Carter. Throughout the first half, Carter would save seven shots, but Minot State led, 2-0.
Junior
Rylee Truslow would take over in net to start the second half and would limit three Beaver attempts. In the 65
th minute, Minot State would score its third goal of the afternoon. The home club would strike again in the 72
nd minute to make the match, 4-0. Truslow would make seven saves in the second half, but Minot State would hold on to their 4-0 advantage at full time.
In the loss, freshmen
Mary Cox and
Madalynn Hopkins played the full 90 as well as senior
Mason Kimble. She finishes her Dragon career with 4,228 minutes played, the 10th-highest total in program history. Kimble played in her 71st career game for MSUM on Thursday, the fourth-highest tally of any player in school history.
MSUM completes the 2024 season 1-14-3 with a 1-11-2 record in NSIC matches.
