Watch Your Head! Seventh-Ranked Dragons Bombard Wolves

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Seventh-ranked MSU Moorhead men's basketball completely bombarded visiting Northern State on Thursday evening in MSUM's first NSIC contest of 2024-25. The Dragons used their size and athleticism to stifle the Wolves, 80-50.

Inside The Game
  • MSUM raced out to a nine-point lead early in the first half with three different Dragons scoring in the stetch (Jacob Jennissen, Sam Hastreiter and Shaun Wysocki).
  • A 10-0 run from the Dragons midway through the first half gave MSUM a 14-point lead, 21-7.
  • Hastreiter buried his second triple of the half in the flurry as Levi Birkholz would net a triple of his own on the next Dragon possession.
  • MSUM would hold a lead as large as 20 points in the first half after a pair of free throws from Jacob Beeninga, his first points of the contest.
  • The Dragons led by 15 points (38-23) after one period with Hastreiter nailing three three-pointers to lead MSUM.
  • MSUM shot 58.3 percent from the field in the first half, including five made long range shots.
  • Logan Kinsey would re-extend MSUM's lead to 20 points early in the second half after a corner three.
  • The Dragons would dunk their way through the Wolves near the midway point as Kinsey and Jennissen went above the rim.
  • Jennissen would kickstart a 13-0 Dragon burst that also saw baskets from Birkholz, Kinsey and Eddie Beeninga, putting the Dragons up 28 points.
  • A monstrous tip-in slam from Jennissen would put the Dragon lead into the 30s, leading 71-40 with five minutes to play.
  • Adam Jenkins would also connect on a tip-in slam to erupt the Dragon bench late and keep the MSUM lead at 30 points.
  • Tysen Gerads would score late for the Dragons, helping MSUM to an 80-50 win.
  • MSUM shot 62.9 percent from the floor in the second half and only attempted one three-pointer (a make).
