MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead men's basketball struggled in a physical tilt with Augustana on Saturday evening. The Vikings defeated the Dragons, 83-76.
How It Occurred
- MSUM would struggle again from the floor, shooting just three of 12 from the field in the first five minutes. Augustana led 9-7 early.
- The Dragons would rally back midway through the period, taking a 20-16 lead thanks to eight points from Ja'Kair Sanchez.
- Jacob Beeninga added in 11 points in the first 20 minutes to keep MSUM in front 35-33 at the break.
- Sanchez scored 10 points, but MSUM shot just 33.3 percent from the floor and two of 10 from three-point range.
- The Vikings would even the score at 51 points five minutes into the second half as Augie would shoot nine of 12 to open the period.
- Augustana would make 65.6 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
- The visiting team would outscore MSUM 50-41 in the final 20 minutes.
- In total, MSUM shot 37.5 percent for the game to Augustana's 51.5 percent clip.
- The Dragons shot just four of 21 from long range as well.
- Dane Zimmer collected his 1,000th career rebounds in the loss.
