MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead women's basketball used a first half flurry from
Olivia Skibiel on Senior Day as the Dragons pushed past Augustana, 73-67 on Saturday afternoon.
How The Game Was Won
- Olivia Skibiel would absolutely own the first period of play, scoring 13 points on five of five shooting including three long range makes.
- MSUM would shoot 57.1 percent from the floor in the frame to lead 21-12 over the Vikings after 10 minutes of play.
- Skibiel would connect on her fourth three-pointer of the game in the second quarter. The senior would lead the Dragons in scoring with 16 points.
- While the Vikings would outscore MSUM 19-13 in the second quarter, the Dragons used Skibiel's onslaught to remain in front, 34-31.
- MSUM shot 44.8 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.
- Augie would begin the third quarter on a 9-6 run to take a 42-40 lead, which was the Viking's first lead of the contest.
- The Vikings would stay in front 51-50 through 30 minutes as the visitors would shoot 50 percent in the third quarter to MSUM's 35.3 percent clip.
- Maya Metcalf led MSUM in the quarter with six points.
- The fourth quarter went without stoppage for a healthy host of time, but MSUM would claw back into the contest and tie the game at 67 points thanks to a three-pointer from Natalie Jens.
- Jens led the Dragons through the final 10 minutes, scoring seven points in the frame. The junior also dished out seven assists and six rebounds in the game.
- The Dragon defense would hold Augie scoreless for the final two minutes of play while MSUM scored six points in the same stretch.
- Senior Ashley Gustavson closed the game down at the free throw line with a pair of makes with less than a minute remaining.
- MSUM shot 45 percent for the game and would play a clean game with only seven turnovers.

nd consecutive game for the Dragons and is playing in her 129
th career collegiate game. It's also the first time her Dragons have celebrated a two-game regular season sweep over Augustana since the 2008-2009 season, Augie's first year in the NSIC.
