BEMIDJI, Minn. – MSU Moorhead women's basketball would suffer a setback in NSIC play on Saturday afternoon as the Dragons fell to Bemidji State, 65-54.
The home team would race out to an 8-0 lead in the first period thanks to a 75 percent shooting clip in the early stages. Luckily, MSUM would settle in thereafter, going on a 11-2 run midway through the quarter to regain the lead.
Natalie Jens would score four points in the flurry for the Dragons, who held the Beavers scoreless for nearly four minutes in the frame. However, Bemidji State would close the first quarter on a 8-2 run to take a 18-13 lead after one frame. The Beavers connected on four three-pointers to gain the advantage.
A low-scoring second quarter would ensue between the two teams with MSUM narrowly outscoring the Beavers 14-9.
Karlee Fisher would pace the Dragon offense midway through the quarter with a pair of triples.
Olivia Skibiel would connect on a long range shot late in the frame before Bemidji State would answer with a three of their own. The made shot from the Beavers helped even the score at 27 points at the halftime break.

Terryn Johnson each scored six points in the first 20 minutes for MSUM. Both teams struggled in the second quarter as Bemidji State would shoot 30 percent from the floor compared to MSUM's 30.8 percent mark. The Beavers would weather the Dragons behind six three-pointers in the first half.
The second half would see the Beavers take control of the game, outscoring the Dragons 16-12 in the third quarter. Bemidji State would shoot 53.8 percent from the floor in the frame while forcing six Dragon turnovers. MSUM would make just five of 13 attempts in the quarter and would trail 43-39 after 30 minutes. The Beavers would once again outpace the Dragons in the fourth quarter, 22-15. MSUM shot just 31.25 percent in the final period and made just 35.1 percent for the contest overall. Bemidji State shot 45.3 percent from the field, including nine three-pointers to win the game 65-54.
