SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – MSU Moorhead tennis saw their season come to a close on Friday afternoon as the Dragons fell in an NSIC Quarterfinal matchup to Minnesota State. The Mavericks defeated the Dragons, 4-0.
The Mavericks claimed the team doubles point, earning wins at the number one and three spots by a 6-0 score. The number two matchup featuring
Madison Bell and
Tiannah Gu went unfinished following the pair of Maverick victories.
In singles action, Minnesota State claimed victories at the number two spot to collect their second team point. Maverick wins at number four and five singles put Minnesota State at the necessary four team points for victory. Singles matches featuring
Luzmary Diaz Castillo,
Tiannah Gu and
Claire Nemmers went unfinished as a result. Castillo had won her first set over Freia Lawrence and led 1-0 in the second set before the Mavericks won the dual overall. Gu narrowly fell in her first set to Avery Stilwell, 7-6.
The Dragons finish the season with an 8-10 overall record (including fall competition).
