| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead women's basketball is set to hit the road again this week for matchups with 10th-ranked Minnesota State and Winona State. The Dragons take on the Mavericks on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before battling the Warriors on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. Fans can listen to Saturday's game against the Warriors on AM 1100/FM 92.3 with Jace Denman and 'Big Game' James McCarty on the call.

Matchup History...MSUM enters Friday's contest against the Mavericks having dropped the last four meetings with MSU. The Mavs ended MSUM's season in 2023-24 in the NSIC Tournament quarterfinals, 101-74. The Dragons last defeated the Mavericks on January 31, 2020 in a 66-63 affair. MSUM holds a three-game winning streak over the Warriors heading into Saturday. MSUM defeated Winona State to open last season's NSIC Tournament, 72-67. The Dragons have won seven of the last ten games against Winona State.

Last Time Out...The Dragons fell in a pair of NSIC contests to 25th-ranked Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls. Four Dragons scored in double figures against the Mustangs, led by Ashton Safranski and Terryn Johnson, who each scored 13 points. Against the Cougars, Karlee Fisher and Natalie Jens each put in 14 points for the Dragons.

Jens Makes Her Return...Following a five-game absence due to injury, senior guard Natalie Jens returned to the floor for the Dragons last weekend. Jens scored 12 points and had two steals in 18 minutes of work against SMSU on Friday. The Beaver Dam, Wis., native scored 14 points the next day against Sioux Falls for a 13 points per game average across both contests.

Catch-And-Shoot Karlee...Sophomore guard Karlee Fisher found her shooting rhythm against Sioux Falls on Saturday. Fisher used some solid Dragon screens to get open for several catch-and-shoot chances. The Brooklyn Park, Minn., native took advantage, marking a 50 percent field goal clip for the game. This included making three of five from three-point range. Across two games last weekend, Fisher averaged 12.5 points while shooting 54.5 percent from long range (6-11).

Terry's Logbook...Junior forward Terryn Johnson saw two more strong showings against SMSU and Sioux Falls. Johnson scored 13 points on 60 percent shooting against the Mustangs on Friday. The Kindred, N.D., native would then log her fifth double-double of the season against Sioux Falls on Saturday. Johnson scored 11 points and secured 11 rebounds with two steals against the Coo. For the weekend, Johnson shot 50 percent from the floor. In her career, Johnson now has 14 double-doubles.

Capital Cay...Freshman Caylin Kelly seems to have found her footing in the college game. Kelly scored eight points with four rebounds and a steal against SMSU on Friday. The Clark, S.D. native scored in double figures against Sioux Falls, netting 10 points with three rebounds. Across the two games, Kelly shot 42.8 percent from the field and made all four of her foul shots.

Swiss Army Safranski...Freshman point guard Ashton Safranski filled the stat sheet again last weekend for the Dragons. Safranski had 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals against SMSU on Friday. Safranski is second in the NSIC with 40 total steals, which is top-30 in the nation this season.

Quick Scout...Minnesota State will look to take advantage of turnovers, bolstering the league's top turnover margin (plus-8.06), forcing nearly 25 per game. The Warriors are led by senior Olivia Gamoke, who averages a team-best 14.6 points per game.

Karla Nelson is in her 25th season as MSUM's head women's basketball coach.
