MSUM will put its 14-game winning streak against Wayne State on the line Saturday. The Dragons have not lost to the Wildcats since February 9, 2013 (73-70). JaMir Price each scored 18 points for the Dragons against the Mavericks. MSUM ended its five-game losing streak the next day against Winona State, 92-80. The Dragons hit 13 threes in the win with Johnson scoring a game-high 24 points.
Snap Yo Streak...With the win over Winona State on Saturday, MSUM ended its five-game losing skid. The streak is the longest series of defeats in the head coaching tenure of
Tim Bergstraser. The now-defunct five-game slide was the longest since MSUM lost eight straight during the 2017-18 season.
Spreading The JaM...After missing most of the season due to injury, senior guard
JaMir Price made his triumphant return to the lineup last weekend. The reigning NSIC Newcomer of the Year made an impact as well, averaging 19.5 points, six rebounds and six assists over two games. Price shot 47 percent from the floor and 50 percent from long range. The Rock Island, Ill., native scored 21 points with eight rebounds and four assists against Winona State on Saturday. In his Dragon career, Price has scored 20 or more points on seven occasions, all of which resulted in MSUM victories. For his efforts last weekend, Price was named to the NSIC's 'Shining Five'.
Yes, He Is A Freshman...Point guard
Carson Johnson continues to play well above his years for MSUM. Johnson scored 18 points with five rebounds on Friday before pouring in 24 points on Saturday. For the weekend, Johnson made 50 percent of his field goal attempts (16-32) with six made three-pointers (6-15), which included an elusive four-point play.
Holy Hastreiter...Junior
Sam Hastreiter turned in his best effort as a Dragon to date against Winona State. Hastreiter scored 17 points on five of eight shooting with all five of his made field goals coming from behind the arc. For the weekend, Hastreiter drained seven threes on 12 attempts. On Friday against the Vikings, Hastreiter will match up with his younger brother, Jack.
Kinsey Balances Out...Junior
Logan Kinsey saw his game return to form last weekend. After struggling from the field in MSUM's previous four losses, Kinsey shot 70.5 (12-17) from the floor, averaging 16 points per game.
