| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead women's basketball will look to snap its four-game losing streak this weekend in a pair of road NSIC tilts. The Dragons match up with 25th-ranked Southwest Minnesota State on Friday at 5:30 p.m. before taking on Sioux Falls on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. Fans can listen to the game against the Cougars on AM 1100/FM 92.3 with 'Big Game' James McCarty on the call.

Matchup History...The Dragons snapped a four-game losing skid to the Mustangs on February 24, 2024 in Marshall to close the regular season. Prior to the Mustang streak, MSUM had won nine straight against SMSU from January 2013 until February 2019. The Coo have claimed three of the last four meetings with the Dragons, most recently winning on February 23, 2024 (66-54). Since the 2012-13 season, Sioux Falls has won eight of 15 meetings between the two programs. The Dragons have not won inside the Stewart Center since January 3, 2014 when MSUM won, 68-67.

Last Time Out...The Dragons took two tough losses at home against 16th-ranked Concordia, St. Paul and Minnesota Duluth. The Golden Bears defeated the Dragons 78-54 with Terryn Johnson scoring nine points for MSUM. Against the Bulldogs, Karlee Fisher and Ashton Safranski each scored 10 points in a 74-50 loss.

#SafranskiSteals...After collecting another eight steals across two games last weekend, Ashton Safranski now sits in second in the NSIC in total steals (37). The true freshman point guard had five steals against Concordia, St. Paul, before registering three takeaways against Minnesota Duluth. Safranski's 37 steals this season is tied for the 20th-most in the country.

Check Off Another...Junior post Terryn Johnson collected another double-digit rebounding effort against Minnesota Duluth last Saturday. Johnson snared 11 rebounds, including two offensive boards. In her career, Johnson has 16 games with 10 or more rebounds. So far this season, Johnson is third in the NSIC in rebounds per game (8.4) and fourth in total rebounds (117). Johnson has 451 career rebounds in 70 games played for the Dragons.

Going The Extra Mile...Freshman tweener Caylin Kelly has settled in as an energizer off the bench for MSUM. Kelly scored seven points on 50 percent shooting against Concordia, St. Paul on Friday. The Clark, S.D., native netted five points with a three-point make against Minnesota Duluth.

Showing Signs...In addition to Kelly, fellow freshmen Ayelishka Teko-Folly and Tresa Baumgard turned in strong minutes last weekend. Teko-Folly showcased her athletic ability on a pair of baskets against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. The Rosemount, Minn., native also blocked a shot on Saturday against the Bulldogs. Baumgard scored against Concordia, St. Paul on Friday and looked stern on the defensive end for the Dragons.

Kar(lee) Goes Vroom...Sophomore guard Karlee Fisher looked strong in the fourth quarter against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. Fisher scored four of her 10 points in the final period and looked comfortable getting to the rim and scoring. Saturday's performance was Fisher's fourth double figure scoring output this season.

Quick Scout...SMSU continues to love the three-point look, leading the NSIC in three-point field goals made per game(8.8) and percentage (38.6), which is a mark that is also top ten in the nation. Standout guard Bri Stoltzman averages 17 points a game for the Mustangs. The Coo's Kami Wadsworth is just behind Stoltzman, averaging 16.7 points a game, which is fifth-best in the conference.

Karla Nelson is in her 25th season as MSUM's head women's basketball coach.
