Dragons Earn Fourth Reverse Sweep of Season Against Mary

BISMARCK, N.D. -- Minnesota State Moorhead volleyball would rally from a tough start to pick up its fourth reverse sweep victory of the 2025 season. The Dragons defeated the University of Mary in five sets.

How It Happened
  • The Marauders claimed the first set 25-22 after hitting for a .343 clip compared to Moorhead's .176 mark.
  • In the second frame, MSUM would fall down early and would not be able to regain a lead, trailing by four points.
  • Three straight points from the Dragons, including back-to-back kills from Raiah Mandell helped the Dragons regain the lead, 22-20.
  • Mary would rattle off five straight points from there, winning the set 25-22.
  • While the teams would trade punches in the third set, Moorhead would eventually grab a four-point lead after a kill from Mandell and an ace from Maci Martini.
  • The Dragons would hit on an 8-0 run to close the third set, eventually winning by a 25-13 count.
  • Mary would take command in the fourth set, building a five-point lead near the frame's midway point.
  • Moorhead would be forced to play from behind throughout the set, coming within two points late (20-18).
  • From there, MSUM would regain the lead after four straight points. Leading 22-20, the Dragons would steal the set 25-23 after a block assist from Mandell and Mya Pfeifer.
  • The final set was truly a back and forth affair with both teams gridlocked at 14 points.
  • A kill from Brielle Riess, followed by a Marauder attack error sealed a 16-14 victory for the Dragons.
  • Riess was superb all afternoon with a double-double of 22 kills and 12 digs. Martini also notched another double-double with 12 kills and 18 digs.
