DULUTH, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead suffered a setback in NSIC action on Saturday afternoon. The Dragons fell to 17th-ranked Minnesota Duluth in three sets.
How It Happened
- The teams would trade points to begin the match before Minnesota Duluth took a 12-6 lead near the midway point.
- Brielle Riess would try and keep the Dragons within reach, but the Bulldogs would hit on a 6-0 run not long after to lead 18-7.
- Back-to-back kills from Mya Pfeifer had the Dragons within eight points late, trailing 22-14.
- The Bulldogs would win the set 25-16 after logging a .500 hit percentage in the set.
- Minnesota Duluth would quickly build a 10-4 advantage to open the second frame with the home club holding a lead as large as nine points (22-13).
- MSUM would battle back, scoring on three straight rallies with a kill from Raiah Mandell and a block assist from Mandell and Pfeifer.
- Two more kills from Mandell and another from Riess had the Dragons within four points (23-19) late in the set.
