| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead volleyball is set to hit the road for two NSIC matches against Minot State and Mary. The Dragons take on the Beavers a 6 p.m. on Friday before battling the Marauders on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. The Dragons coming off a week of split results with a reverse sweep win over Jamestown last Friday before falling to 24th-ranked Northern State on Saturday.

It's Been Awhile...In MSUM's reverse sweep win over the Jimmies, the Dragons snapped a nearly decade-long streak. Moorhead's effort was the first reverse sweep in an NSIC match since October 30, 2015. On that day, MSUM rallied back to earn a home victory over then 20th-ranked Augustana. So far this season, MSUM has won three matches in reverse sweep fashion.

Halvorson Steps Up...Due to injury, Moorhead was forced to utilize their bench in last weekend's matches, led by newcomer Kate Halvorson. The sophomore joined the fold in the latter sets against the Jimmies, tallying four total blocks in the victory. Against the Wolves on Saturday, Halvorson collected her first collegiate kill to go along with a block assist.

Block-ua...Sophomore Leah Laqua further affirmed her enforcer role for the Dragons this past weekend. Laqua was all over the floor in Friday's win over Jamestown, stamping eight kills and a whopping four block solos. The Fargo, N.D., native was not done there either as she would tally four kills and three total blocks against the Wolves. So far this season, Laqua leads the Dragons with 30 total blocks.

Double-Double Martini...Junior outside hitter Maci Martini continues to expand her attack game for Moorhead. Martini was a key piece to the reverse sweep victory over Jamestown with a team-high 16 kills behind a .333 attack percentage. The Pequot Lakes, Minn., native was also dangerous behind the service line with five aces in the victory. Martini etched another double-double to her ledger as well, adding in 12 digs as part of the five-set win. Martini also led the attack against the Wolves, totaling 10 kills.

Colby and Feist Set A New Marks...Junior setter Madi Colby and senior Jadyn Feist would each set new collegiate benchmarks in the victory over the Jimmies. Colby tallied 32 assists, a new career best with the effort being the third time Colby has reset a new best this season. Feist has migrated from outside hitter to libero and has filled the role well. Against the Jimmies, Feist racked up a career-high 28 digs, besting her previous high of 21 set during her freshman season against New Mexico Highlands (9/11/2021).

Kari Thompson is in her third season as MSUM's head volleyball coach.
