MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Senior quarterback Jack Strand and freshman guard Abby John have been named the Minnesota State Moorhead Athletes of the Month presented by Buffalo Wild Wings for the month of November 2025.

Strand concluded his historic MSUM career in November, helping the Dragons to three straight wins in the month and leading Moorhead to an 8-3 overall record. The Bloomer, Wis., native began his month throwing for 366 yards and seven touchdowns in the annual Battle for the Axe with Bemidji State. Strand's seven touchdown passes against the Beavers set a new MSUM single-game record and tied the NSIC single-game record. In his final home game against Jamestown on November 8, Strand tallied 268 pass yards and five touchdowns. Strand completed the season by helping carry Moorhead to a 31-23 win over 14th-ranked Minnesota State on November 14. The senior passed for 240 yards and three scores, but was also lethal with his legs, rushing for 118 yards on the ground. In the victory, Strand became the NSIC's all-time leading passer, completing his career with 12,134 pass yards in league games. Thanks to his stellar performance all season, Strand was named All-NSIC North First Team and the NSIC Offensive Player of the Year on November 19.

John has seen an exceptional beginning to her collegiate career as she averaged 13.2 points and 4.6 rebounds for the Dragons in the month of November. The Barnesville, Minn., native began her collegiate career in style, scoring 20 points on 70 percent shooting against Missouri Western on November 14. John would surge as conference play began for Moorhead, scoring 17 points against Minnesota Crookston on November 25. The true freshman would also nab 10 rebounds to secure her first career double-double. John wrapped the month with another monster performance, scoring 22 points with seven rebounds and three steals against Alaska Fairbanks on November 28. She would shoot 80 percent from the floor against the Nanooks while also dishing out three assists. For her efforts in the final week of November, John was named the NSIC North Division Player of the Week.
