Moorhead Wraps 2025 at Home Against Wolves, Jimmies

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead women's basketball is set to conclude the year 2025 in a pair of home NSIC contests this week. The Dragons host Northern State on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Jamestown on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. Fans can watch the contests on the Dragon Digital Network with Steve d'Eustachio on play-by-play and Jared Bledsoe on commentary. Saturday's game can also be listened to on AM 1100/FM 92.3 with 'Big Game' James McCarty and Jace Denman on the call. 

Matchup History...The Dragons and Wolves will renew their long-standing series on Thursday with Northern State holding the most recent victory. The teams split the series last season, but the Wolves defeated the Dragons more recently on January 30, 2025. MSUM defeated the Wolves at home on December 5, 2024 in 73-70 overtime conquest. Ashton Safranski scored 18 points to pace Moorhead. Saturday's meeting with the Jimmies will be the first-ever as conference foes. The Dragons have not played Jamestown since November 27, 2007, when MSUM defeated the Jimmies 76-49. Moorhead claimed the first-ever meeting with Jamestown during the 1984-85 season. Overall, MSUM is 12-9 all-time against the Jimmies entering Saturday. 

Terry Watch...Senior post Terryn Johnson moved her career points total to 856 following MSUM's contests last week. Johnson also moved up to 660 career rebounds in 95 games played for Moorhead.

Safranski Loads The Box Score...Sophomore guard Ashton Safranski turned in an impressive pair of performances for Moorhead last week. Safranski scored 12 points with five assists, five steals and four rebounds against Minot State on Thursday. The Fargo, N.D., native would follow that up with another strong game against UMary. Safranski scored 21 points with seven rebounds and three assists against the Marauders. The guard shot 70 percent from the field against UMary, including making all four of her three-point attempts. 

Morrison Fits Right In...True freshman Aubrey Morrison has continued to make an impact for the Dragons off the bench. Morrison had a pair of double figure scoring outputs last week, headlined by 17 points against UMary on Saturday. The Walker, Minn., native also had four assists and two steals against the Marauders. Morrison netted 11 points, four rebounds and two steals against Minot State on Thursday. 

Do-It-All Cay...Sophomore wing Caylin Kelly did a little bit of everything for the Dragons last week. Kelly showed out against UMary on Saturday, scoring 16 points on 42.8 percent shooting. The Clark, S.D., native was also key on the glasss, hauling in six rebounds to go along with an impressive six assists. 

Adie Heats Up...Junior guard Adie Wagner used her shooting ability to help jolt the Dragons against Minot State. Wagner drilled three long range shots on six attempts for nine points. The three triples made by Wagner is a new Dragon career-best. 

Teko-Folly On Display...Sophomore post Ayelishka Teko-Folly displayed her improvement for the Dragons against Minot State. Teko-Folly scored seven points on a perfect three of three shooting in the game. The Rosemount, Minn., native scored all seven of her points in the second quarter, helping Moorhead get back into the game after falling down by double digits. 

Still In Control...Moorhead finished the weekend plus-four in the rebounding category thanks to an eight-rebound advantage over Minot State on Thursday. The Dragons pull down the most rebounds per game in the NSIC with 41.1 per game. Moorhead also holds the second-best rebounding margin in the league, bringing in nearly seven more rebounds per game compared to opponents.

Karla Nelson is in her 26th season as head coach of the Dragons.
