MSUM Bested by Ranked Vikings

FARGO, N.D. – MSU Moorhead tennis dropped an NSIC dual match against #29 Augustana on Saturday morning. The Vikings topped the Dragons, 6-1.
 
Doubles action saw the Vikings claim all three matches to earn the team point. Shaelyn Johnson and Luzmary Diaz Castillo would battle with Nicole Dufour and Fernanda Sandoval but would fall 6-3. Diaz Castillo would grind in singles action against Sandoval as well, pushing the match to three sets. The junior won the second set 6-4 after falling in the first, but narrowly fell in the deciding third set, 10-8. 
 
On Senior Day, it was the graduate student Johnson who would claim the lone victory in singles action for MSUM. Johnson lost a close first set to Dufour 7-5 before taking a small 2-1 lead in the second set. From there, Dufour would retire the match, earning Johnson her 12th singles win of the season. Dufour was ranked 67th in the ITA singles rankings heading into the match.
