MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead soccer dropped its first NSIC contest of 2025 on Friday. The Dragons fell to the Augustana Vikings, 5-1.
The Vikings got their offense going early on in the first half, placing a nice shot in the net off the foot of Madelyn White. Shortly after,
Lilly Johnson would place a shot on net that was saved by Augie keeper Taya Baker. The save would ignite a run the other way for the Vikings as White would strike again just ahead of the 10
th minute.
Augustana would control possession for a majority of the first half, but MSUM found its opportunity as time waned. Moorhead found itself near the Viking box with
Mary Cox directing traffic. The sophomore found a streaking
Lauryn Katzenberger, who fired off a shot for her first career goal. At halftime, MSUM would trail, 2-1 but held momentum entering the locker room.
The Vikings would continue to push the pace in the second half, scoring again in the 60
th minute. Augustana would strike again not long after, netting another goal in the 61
st minute to take a commanding 4-1 lead.
Sophie Thompson would have a look at the net in the 68
th minute for MSUM on a free kick, but the shot was stalled by Baker. Augustana would add an insurance goal in the 82
nd minute to win the match, 5-1.
