DULUTH, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead men's basketball suffered a tough loss to conclude the 2025-26 regular season. The Dragons fell to Minnesota Duluth, 85-72.
The Dragons would surrender the ball four times through five minutes of action, which allowed Minnesota Duluth to claim a 9-6 lead. MSUM would get solid looks from long range but would be unable to find the mark. Midway through the first half, the Bulldogs led 18-8. Not even three minutes later, Moorhead would be back within three points following a triple from
Eddie Beeninga.
With under five minutes to play in the first half, Moorhead trailed by five points, 28-23. Minnesota Duluth would retain a five-point lead at the halftime break, 35-30. Beeninga and
Isa El-Amin each scored seven points for the Dragons in the first half. The Bulldogs gained the advantage from the free throw line, making 12 of 20 attempts while Moorhead only attempted five.
Five minutes into the second half, Minnesota Duluth would extend their lead to 13 points with MSUM shooting one of six to start. Near the midway point of the half, the Bulldogs would stretch their lead to 21 points (57-36). The Dragons continued to struggle from the floor while UMD converted on more free throw attempts. A triple from
Sam Hastreiter would snap a near 10-minute dryspell for Moorhead.
The Dragons would get to within 11 points a few minutes later after an El-Amin triple. However, MSUM struggled to find a true rhythm as UMD would slow the game down with foul shots on seemingly every possession. With five minutes to play, Moorhead was within 10 points, trailing 67-57.
That is as close as Moorhead would come as Minnesota Duluth would win 85-72. El-Amin and Hastreiter led the Dragons with 14 points each.
Dominic Gooden would score 13 points while Beeninga added 10. Minnesota Duluth shot 55 free throws in the game.
