ABERDEEN, S.D. -- Minnesota State Moorhead men's basketball ran into another hot-shooting performance from Northern State on Saturday evening in NSIC action. The Wolves bested the Dragons, 83-69.
How It Happened
- In an evenly-played first half, MSUM led 9-6 early on thanks to baskets from Sam Hastreiter, Isa El-Amin and Tysen Gerads.
- The teams would trade the lead with Moorhead leading 16-14 after another make from Hastreiter.
- Northern State would then gain a lead as large as five points before MSUM pulled back within two points after a jam from Adam Jenkins.
- The Wolves would close the half on a 9-2 run to hold a 38-30 lead at the break.
- Hastreiter and El-Amin each scored seven points for the Dragons.
- Northern State would get hot from long range at the outset of the second half, ballooning their lead to 19 points. (53-34).
- Near the midway point of the half, NSU's lead had expanded to 24 points (62-38).
- The Wolves outscored the Dragons 24-8 through the first nine minutes of the second half.
- Moorhead would come as close as 15 points late after a three from Eddie Beeninga, followed by a Gerads basket.
- Northern State would win 83-69 behind a 54.5 percent shooting clip, including 10 made three-pointers.
