ABERDEEN, S.D. -- Minnesota State Moorhead women's basketball experienced another harsh night shooting in a road clash with Northern State on Saturday. The Wolves handled the Dragons, 61-41.
How It Happened
- Moorhead would open the game strong with baskets from Caylin Kelly, Karlee Fisher and Abby Berge to secure a 6-2 lead.
- Northern State would surge from there, building an 18-8 lead thanks, in part, to an 11-0 run.
- MSUM would come as close as six points, but the Wolves would lead 21-12 after 10 minutes.
- The Wolves would only continue to create separation, building a lead as large as 17 points in the second quarter.
- Moorhead trailed 38-23 at halftime as the Dragon shot nine of 28 from the floor through 20 minutes.
- The Dragons continued to struggle on offense in the third quarter with Northern State building a 20-point advantage (47-27).
- MSUM shot three of 16 (18.7 percent) in the quarter with the Wolves leading 49-31 with 10 minutes to play.
- Aubrey Morrison would help cut the Wolves lead to 10 points midway through the fourth quarter.
- However, the Northern State lead proved too much to overcome as the home team expanded their lead back to 20 points before the final buzzer.
- The Wolves won 61-41 as Moorhead shot 16 of 62 (25.8 percent) for the game, including two of 17 from three-point range.
