MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead golf is set to begin its spring portion of the 2025-26 season this Thursday. The Dragons will compete in the two-day SMSU Challenge at the Wigwam Blue Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz. Tee times are slated for 11:16 a.m. on Thursday.
Live results will be available at msumdragons.com. Moorhead has not competed since wrapping its fall season at the USF Invite on October 13 and 14, finishing with a 36-hole score of 745.
Recap The Fall...Moorhead competed in four tournaments during the fall, led by an eighth-place finish at the Tracy Lane Memorial on September 8 and 9. The Dragons lowest 36-hole team score so far this season is 695, set at the EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invitational. At the same tournament, MSUM posted its top 18-hole team score this season with a 339.
On An Individual Note...Senior
Halle Balluff led the Dragons in the fall slate with an 85.6 stroke average. At the EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invitational, Balluff shot 163 across 36 holes, a season-best for the roster. Sophomore
Aspen Beyer holds a 91.4 stroke average this season with a season low round of 174. Junior
Regan Braun (92.1) and freshman
Adi Houkom (92.3) each share similar stroke averages so far this season.
Karlee Luneckas rounds out the Dragon competitors for the fall, holding a 98.3 stroke average. Moorhead also added a mid-season addition in
Kamryn Wesloh, who has competed for Dragon soccer the past two seasons. In her prep career, Wesloh was a three-time all-conference selection for Zimmermann High School.
The Tournament...The SMSU Challenge is a 36-hole tournament which will feature 10 teams. The Dragons will be joined at Wigwam Blue Course by Southwest Minnesota State, Augustana, Minnesota Crookston, Bemidji State, Metro State, Colorado Mesa, Rockhurst, Chadron State and Fort Hays State.
The Course...The Wigwam Blue Course is a par-70 with a total yardage of 6,373. The course features five par-threes, nine par-fours and four par-fives. The Wigwam Blue Course features three par-fives in the front nine alone.
