LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Minnesota State Moorhead golf began spring play on Thursday morning at the SMSU Challenge. After 18 holes, MSUM sits in 10
th place behind a cumulative score of 349.
Senior
Halle Balluff guided the Dragons through 18 holes, carding a first-round 80 overall. Balluff was stellar on the back nine at Wigwam Blue Course, scoring three consecutive birdies on the 10
th, 11
th and 12
th holes. This included one-under marks on the par-five 10
th hole which spanned 492 yards and a chip-in on the par-four 12
th hole. The Moorhead native also logged four pars in her round and finished the back nine even par (34). Balluff is currently 17th on the individual leaderboard.
Aspen Beyer would turn in a strong 83 through her first 18 holes for the Dragons. The sophomore scored eight pars in her round, including a trio on the 16
th, 17
th and 18
th holes. Beyer also collected a birdie on the par-three ninth hole.
Adi Houkom and
Regan Braun would pencil in identical 93 scores to round out the Dragon scoring. Houkom had five pars in her round while Braun logged four even holes.
MSUM wraps up play at the SMSU Challenge tomorrow with an 18-hole round.
