FARGO, N.D. – Minnesota State Moorhead tennis celebrated its Senior Day on Saturday afternoon against visiting Augustana. The 21st-ranked Vikings defeated the Dragons in Moorhead's home finale, 7-0.
The Vikings would win all three doubles matches to earn the dual's first team point. In a matchup between two nationally-ranked pairs, Augie's 29th-ranked duo of Maria Fiacan and Fernanda Sandoval defeated 49th-ranked
Luzmary Diaz Castillo and
Sophia Felderman, 6-1. The Dragon team of
Camilla Bonini and
Katryna Hansen battled with Rhidaim Yang and Smilte Bakyte at the number two spot, but fell 6-2.
Diaz Castillo and Fiacan would play a spirited singles match at the number one position with Fiacan claiming a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Hansen would stay contentious in her number two singles match with Mia Garcia. The junior had opportunities to claim key games, but fell short to Garcia in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Entering the dual, Garcia was ranked 14th in the Central Region per the ITA.

The Dragons are off from competition next weekend before wrapping the NSIC schedule on April 11 and 12 against Minnesota Crookston and St. Cloud State.
