MSUM Begins Competition at NSIC Championships

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- Minnesota State Moorhead golf embarked on the 54-hole NSIC Championships on Wednesday morning. After 18 holes of play, the Dragons sit in 11th place on the team leaderboard behind a score of 352. 

Halle Balluff held the team low round on day one for Moorhead, penciling in an even 80 through 18 holes. Balluff carded eight pars in her round as well as a birdie. The Moorhead product secured one-under marks on the par-five 14th hole that spanned 465 yards. Regan Braun was one stroke off her personal best through 18 holes, marking an 87 overall. The junior had six even holes in her round including even marks on the par-five second hole at Adams Pointe Golf Club. 

Aspen Beyer shot a 90 in her first round with four pars and a pair of birdies. The sophomore began her round with a one-under score on the par-four first hole which spanned 327 yards. Beyer would secure her second birdie of the round on the par-four 13th hole. Rounding out the Dragon scoring on day one was true freshman Adi Houkom, who carded a 95. Houkom had six even holes on the day. Kamryn Wesloh would finish two strokes off Houkom, shooting a 97 with five pars. 

The NSIC Golf Championships continue tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
