Dragons Improve by 10 Strokes at Tracy Lane Memorial

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead golf saw a major improvement on day two of the Tracy Lane Memorial on Tuesday. The Dragons concluded the 36-hole tournament in fourth place with a cumulative score of 736. 

Moorhead completed the second round with a score of 363, a 10-stroke improvement from Monday's round. 

Sophomore Sydney Miller would see a major improvement one day two, trimming nine strokes from Monday. Miller shot an 82 overall in a round that featured nine pars. The Detroit Lakes, Minn., product had a tremendous showing at the turn, earning either a par or birdie on five straight holes. Miller earned her birdie on the par-five 10th hole at Bemidji Town & Country Club, which spanned 445 yards. She would finish 14th individually at the tournament.

Fellow second-yard Adi Houkom would also see an improvement from day one, carding an 84. Houkom cut three strokes from her first round thanks to seven pars and a birdie. The West Fargo, N.D., product had a string of four straight even holes to open the back nine. Houkom would pencil in a birdie on the par-four sixth hole that amassed 392 yards. The sophomore would finish 12th overall on the individual leaderboard. 

Regan Braun would shoot a second-round 96 for the Dragons on Tuesday. Braun earned a pair of pars on the front nine as well as a birdie. The senior earned one-under marks on the par-four eighth hole that stretched 304 yards. 

Kamryn Wesloh would wrap up the scoring for Moorhead, improving by a stroke for a round two 101. Wesloh collected her first birdie of the season in the round, penciling in three strokes on the par-four 13th hole.

MSUM will now look towards the annual Jewel Invitational in Lake City, Minn., next week. Play from The Jewel Golf Club is set to begin on Monday morning.
