MOORHEAD, Minn. -- For the second consecutive week, Minnesota State Moorhead football embarks on a trip to the Queen City of the West for an NSIC bout. The Dragons take on 20th-ranked Augustana in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.

Midco Sports Plus will be the official streaming home of MSUM athletics. Fans can also listen to the game live on AM 1100/FM 92.3 with 'Big Game' James McCarty and Jace Denman on the call. Moorhead fell to 2-1 on the season last week in a heartbreaking overtime loss to Sioux Falls, 29-28. 

Matchup History...The Dragons and Vikings have not met up since the 2024 season after a gap year in 2025. On September 28, 2024, MSUM earned its first victory over the Vikings since 2017, defeating Augie 43-41. Kicker Max Watson delivered on a late 40-yard field goal to secure a Dragon home victory. Jack Strand passed for five touchdowns in that game as well. Augustana had won the previous four meetings with the Dragons prior to the 2024 game. Moorhead earned back-to-back wins over the Vikings in 2015 and 2017. Augie leads the all-time series 7-3. 

Dragons Against The Ranks...This week, Augustana is ranked 20th in the AFCA Coaches' Poll and 17th in the D2Football.com Media Poll. Moorhead has earned a ranked victory in each of the last three seasons. The Dragons capped the 2025 season with a resounding win over then 14th-ranked Minnesota State. In 2024, MSUM earned its first-ever ranked win in Steve Laqua's tenure, defeating 19th-ranked Minnesota Duluth, 30-29 (9/5/24). The aforementioned victory over the Vikings in 2024 also meets the criteria as Augie was ranked 18th at the time. 

Swiss Army Drew...Sophomore quarterback Drew Huebner was again the offensive catalyst against Sioux Falls last Saturday. The sophomore passed for 253 yards in the game, but also tallied 75 rush yards. Huebner continued to have a prowess for the end zone, contributing four touchdowns in the contest. This included three touchdowns on the ground, moving his 2026 total to six scores. Huebner is second in the NSIC in overall scoring, having accounted for 36 total points so far this season. 

In His E2 Era...Senior defensive back Evan Miles showed spark against Sioux Falls on Saturday. Miles led the Dragons with seven total tackles in the game, including six solo stops. The Oregon, Wis., native also picked off a pass in the fourth quarter to swing momentum in Moorhead's favor. So far this season, Miles has made 10 tackles with a pair of pass breakups. The interception was the first for Miles since his freshman season in 2023. 

Snarfing 'Em Up...Senior runnng back Tyson Brandt has emerged as a valuable all-purpose back for the Dragons this season. Brandt rushed for 61 yards on 10 carries last week against Sioux Falls. The Brookings, S.D., native also caught five passes for 49 yards, concluding the game with 110 all-purpose yards. This season, Brandt has accumulated 253 yards of total offense with two touchdowns. 

First One, Best One...Newcomer Seth Staloch caught his first collegiate touchdown against Sioux Falls last week. Staloch, a transfer from the University of North Dakota, was left all alone on a 31-yard pitch and catch. 

Quick Scout...The Vikings continue to move at the pace of star quarterback Gunnar Hensley. The senior leads the Northern Sun in passing (1,139 yards) and eight touchdowns. Hensley is the reigning NSIC Offensive Player of the Week. Running back Breylon Blount has rushed for 352 ayrds (6.9 YPC) and three touchdowns.
