JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Minnesota State Moorhead soccer fell in NSIC action on the road Friday afternoon. The Dragons were stumped by Jamestown, 2-0.
Neither team would find an offensive rhythm early in the contest. Jamestown would pepper in five shot attempts through the first 12 minutes of play. None of the attempts would require a save, but Moorhead would have its first serious try ahead of the 22
nd minute.
Clara Butler would find a shot on net that required a save from Jamestown keeper Taylor Musser.
The Jimmies would earn the game's first goal just ahead of the halftime whistle on a score in the 39
th minute. Jamestown would hold onto the one-goal advantage into the locker room, attempting 11 shots to MSUM's one. However, only two of Jamestown's shot attempts were logged on net.
Moorhead would have an opportunity to equalize early in the second half as
Gracie Sauvageau tried a low shot. Musser would make the save before
Emilia Bukholt Kristensen made three saves to keep the Dragon deficit at one goal. Kristensen would make her fifth save of the contest ahead of the 75-minute mark.
Jamestown would tack on some insurance late in the second half, scoring ahead of the 84
th minute. Ultimately, the two-goal advantage would hold up for the Jimmies through 90 minutes. Kristensen made six saves while
Mary Cox,
Lizzy Jaraczeski and
Clara Paleen played full 90s for Moorhead.
