Kevin Murphy

Kevin Murphy is in his eighth season as an assistant coach coach on the Minnesota State University Moorhead football staff in 2020. He currently serves as the running backs and tight ends coach, a position he's held since 2018.

Murphy previously served as the offensive line coach for MSUM from 2013-17, with several athletes earning All-NSIC honors.

During his first year, Murphy helped mold a young offensive line that helped the Dragon offense set nine school records. In 2014, he continued his work with the offensive line unit, helping MSUM's offense set six single-game and six single-season records. Senior Kasey Groettum earned All-NSIC North Division honorable mention honors.

In 2015, the Dragons had two linemen receive All-NSIC North Division honors, as Bennen Bierman was second-team and Troy Peterson was honorable mention.

A native of Tomahawk, Wis., Murphy had a solid playing career at Valley City State (N.D.), where he was a three-time all-conference and three-time team captain. He was a two-time Berserker Offensive Lineman Award winner.

Murphy graduated from Valley City State in 2012 with degrees in history education and social science education.
