Matt Baasch

MSUM and Dragon Football Alum (2001) Matt Baasch joined the Dragon coaching ranks with Coach Laqua in the spring of 2011.  He came to the Dragons after helping Laqua turn around the Fargo Shanley High School program, as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for three seasons.  In his first season at MSUM, Baasch tutored All-NSIC senior quarterback Kevin Koch.

MSUM's offense set six single-game and six single-season records in 2014.

Prior to his time at MSUM, Baasch helped oversee the overhaul of two high school football programs.  Starting at Rochester Lourdes High School in Rochester, Minn.  He saw a team that was 2-9 his first year progress to an undefeated Minnesota AAA Football Championship and helped two different quarterbacks earn Minnesota All State honors and go on to play collegiate football.

At Fargo Shanley, Baasch also was part of a 2-9 season that progressed two years later into an undefeated season, repeat North Dakota Class A Football Championships, 20 game winning streak, 50 point per game average scoring offense, and All State North Dakota Player of the year Myles Montplaisir, now a Dragon quarterback.  Baasch was also hired in the fall of 2011 as the Director of Development for Athletics for Minnesota State University Moorhead.

He and his wife Amy (Weinzierl) Baasch, an MSUM and Dragon Volleyball Alum, live in West Fargo with their four children; Eli (10), Kirby (8), Henry (5) and Myles (3).
