Rob Hunt is in his 10th season as a member of the Minnesota State University Moorhead football coaching staff in 2020. He currently serves as the offensive coordinator/offensive line coach, a position he's held since 2018.
Hunt was MSUM's defensive coordinator from 2015-17 and also has served as a defensive line coach and defensive backs tenue.
Hunt is a former offensive lineman for North Dakota State where he was a captain from 2004-05. During those two seasons, Hunt received numerous accolades as he was named the Great West Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2004 along with being selected to the All-Great West Conference First Team.
In 2005, Hunt was honored with the Rimington Award, which recognizes the nation’s top NCAA Division-I AA center. That season also saw Hunt be selected to the Hula Bowl and receive first team Daktronics All-American honors.
In April of 2005, the Indianapolis Colts selected Hunt in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. Following his rookie season, Hunt spent 2006-07 in the NFL Europe ranks as a member of the Rhein Fire and Berlin Thunder squads. Hunt then made his return to the NFL, spending time with the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.
In 2008, Hunt played in the Arena Football League with the New Orleans VooDoo. He returned to North Dakota State in 2009 to earn his B.S. Degree in Human Performance and Fitness. Hunt spent his time since then as the Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Valley City State University.
During his stint at VCSU, Hunt led the top rushing team in the Dakota Athletic Conference in 2010. VCSU also set a record-high 327 rushing yards against Dakota State and broke the record again later in the season, tallying 440 yards rushing against Mayville State (N.D.). He also has worked as a Special Olypmics volunteer for four years.
Hunt currently resides in Valley City, N.D. with his wife Rachelle and his children Dylan and Owen.
