Eric Peterson enters his third season in 2011-12 as the Dragons top assistant and recruiting coordinator for the men’s basketball program.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Chad Walthall, Peterson brought in two-redshirt freshman and three junior college transfers over the summer of 2010.
Prior to joining the MSUM program, Peterson served four years as the top assistant coach at Williston State College (N.D.) (2005-09) under Head Coaches Terry Olson and Hunter Berg.
He helped guide the program to three Region XIII Championship games and one Mon-Dak Conference Championship, Region Championship, and District Championship that led to an NJCAA National Tournament appearance in 2006. In his tenure at WSC, he coached 11 All-Conference players, eight All-Region selections and two All-American honorees.
Prior to his stay at Williston State College, Peterson spent the 2003-2005 seasons as varsity assistant boy’s coach at La Crescent High School.
From 2003-2009 Peterson coached with the most prestigious AAU program in Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Playground Warriors out of Milwaukee, Wisc.
Along with his coaching duties, Peterson also teaches courses in the Health and Physical Education Department and advises students in the Academic Resources Office. While at WSC he served as the Health and Physical Education and Recreation Department Chair.
The native of La Crosse, Wisc., graduated from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in 2006 with a degree in Physical Education. He is working on a master’s degree in Human Performance and Physical Education from Minot State University (ND).
Peterson resides in Fargo, and is also an active member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
