Amanda Reckamp completed her first season as the MSUM softball coach in 2018-19. Revitalizing programs and re-writing the history books is something that is a point of pride for Reckamp as a head coach and the numbers still continue to grow. During Reckamp's career her teams have broken nearly 70 records. In Reckamp's first season at MSUM, the Dragons improved in nearly every offensive category. The Dragons broke the team doubles record in mid-April against NSIC opponent Wayne State and Becky Berth set a new record for single-season innings pitched.
Reckamp spent the previous eight seasons as the head coach at Grinnell College in Iowa.
A big record-setting year for Grinnell was in 2018, under Reckamp's guidance. The team set school records for overall (24) & conference wins (12), & qualified for the MWC tournament for the first time in 12 years. The Pioneers had 2 all-region players, 5 All-Conference (school record), & an All-American who led the nation in 3 statistical categories. Grinnell broke or set an incredible 41 records in 2018. In 2016, Grinnell compiled 16 wins - the most victories for the program since the 2006 campaign.
The Pioneers shined in the classroom during Reckamp's tenure, with 51 academic all-conference players earning honors. There were 38 NFCA Scholar Athletes as well. On the field Reckamp had two Midwest Conference Player of the Year honorees, nine Grinnell Athletic Department Award winners, one CoSIDA Academic All-District player, & three All-Region selections.
Before starting her head coaching career at Grinnell, Reckamp was the assistant softball coach at her alma mater, Westminster College, 2007–2010. She was also assistant women’s basketball coach at the school during the 2007–08 campaign & served as assistant sports information director from 2004 to 2007. Prior to that stint she was a catcher and team captain at Westminster, setting six school records during her career. She was a two-time all-conference selection, an all-region selection, CoSIDA Academic All- American, and Westminster co-female athlete of the year.
Reckamp graduated from Westminster with a bachelor's degree in secondary education with a concentration in business. She earned a master's degree in Athletic Administration from William Woods University. Reckamp is also a graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy as well as the NCAA 2.0 Academy.
