Jonas Matzen is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams. Matzen works with the multi-event athletes.
A four-year member of the Dragon track and field program, Matzen earned All-NSIC honors in the heptathlon in 2020 with a third place finish. He also earned indoor All-NSIC honors in the high jump in 2018.
Matzen's heptathlon score of 5,005 points is second-best in school history and his decathlon score of 6,547 points is also second-best in MSUM history.
Matzen graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology in spring 2020 from MSUM. He is attending graduate school for psychology at MSUM.Â
