Indoor: All-NSIC in the shot put following a third-place finish at the NSIC Championships...tossed a 55-07.5 (16.95m) for the placement at the conference meet...also placed eighth in weight throw, hurling a 57-02 (17.42m)...narrowly missed qualification for the NCAA Championships in shot put, holding a season best mark of 56-10.25 (17.33m), now the second-best indoor shot put in program history...also set a personal best in the weight throw at the Cobber Open, throwing a 57-07.5 (17.56m) which is now the fifth-best showing in MSUM history...did not finish outside the top ten in any event he entered during the season...had four total event wins during the regular season.
Outdoor: MSUM Male Newcomer of the Year...enjoyed nine event wins during the regular season, all coming consecutively throughout the month of April...was led by a school record discus throw at the Dewey Donat Classic on April 16, slinging a 174-07 (53.21m), snapping a record that had stood since 2001...finished sixth in the hammer throw at the NSIC Outdoor Championships behind a toss of 175-01 (53.37m)...placed seventh in discus (45.91m), eighth in javelin (47.09m) and 10th in shot put (15.65m) at the conference meet as well...had top hammer throw of 183-06 (55.93m) at the NDSU Spring Classic, now the fourth-best in program history...registered a top effort of 162-08 (49.58m) in the javelin at the Al Cassell Classic to place third...held a top shot put of 56-02.5 (17.13m), which is now the second-best effort in MSUM history.
Before MSUM: Competed at Northern State during the 2024-25 campaign...set season bests of 52-11.5 in the shot put, 170-06 in the discus and 165-03 in the hammer throw...also had a top weight throw effort of 54-05.5...placed seventh in the discus at the NSIC Outdoor Championships.
Prep: Was a standout thrower for Pelican Rapids Secondary, holding the school's discus record of 170-08...placed third in the discus at the Minnesota state championships on two occasions...also competed in basketball and football where he was a three-year starter in football.
Personal: Son of Candice Petersen. Majoring in exercise science.
