Vanessa Johnson just completed her third season as an assistant coach on the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball staff. She joined the staff in June 2013.
In 2015-16 she helped the Dragons to the NSIC North Division title, a 21-win campaign and to their 16th straight winning season.
Johnson, a native of Hartford, S.D., played college basketball for four seasons, including two at Division I South Dakota State and two at the University of Sioux Falls.
in her senior year at USF, Johnson started all 26 games and averaged 13.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. She also had 74 assists and a team-best 44 steals.
She earned a degree in elementary education from USF and is pursuing her master's degree at MSUM.
