Jason Thiner is in his first season as the new head women's tennis coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2020-21.
Thiner replaces Oliver Summers, who stepped down after eight seasons as Dragon head coach. Thiner was an assistant to Summers in the Dragon program in 2020.
"After getting to know several players on the team over the last few years, I am very excited to carry on the tradition that Coach Oliver Summers has developed at MSUM," Thiner said.
He was head girls tennis coach at Fargo South High School from 2002-2018. From 1997-2015 he was assistant boys tennis coach at Fargo South High School.
Thiner is a 1993 graduate of Minnesota Morris with a degree in math education. He served as a math teacher in the Fargo School District from 1997-2016. Since June 2016 he has served as the tennis pro and supervisor of junior tennis development at Courts Plus in Fargo.
"I'm fired up that Coach Thiner is our next Dragon Tennis Coach," Peters said. "In the past year he has worked closely with Coach Summers and understands how the program was built and what it takes to be successful in the NSIC. I also value his extensive background in education and his passion for tennis and people."
Thiner is a USPTA Certified Professional as well.
