Justin Solberg 2026

Justin Solberg

Justin Solberg is in his 10th season as an assistant wrestling coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead. During his tenure with the Dragons, Solberg has helped coach nine NCAA national qualifiers, two NCAA All-Americans and one national finalist, establishing a strong record of developing wrestlers for success at the national level.

Among the wrestlers Solberg has helped coach are Blake Bosch, the 2017 NCAA national finalist at 133 pounds, and Cole Jones, who earned NCAA All-American honors with a seventh-place finish at 125 pounds in 2019.

Solberg emphasizes technique, conditioning, match strategy, and individualized training. More importantly, he strives to help wrestlers develop confidence in their abilities, compete with purpose, and build the perseverance needed to achieve their goals on and off the mat.

Solberg brings extensive competitive experience to his coaching. At Wahpeton High School, he was a five-time North Dakota state finalist and four-time state champion, finishing his career with a 192-5 record and two undefeated seasons. He was named North Dakota Class A Mr. Wrestler in 2008 and was a three-time high school All-American. His national accomplishments included a Brute-Adidas national championship, runner-up and third-place finishes at the Virginia Beach Nationals, and a sixth-place finish in Greco-Roman at the USA Wrestling Junior Nationals.

Solberg continued his wrestling career at Division I North Dakota State University, where he was a four-year letter winner and team captain. Competing at 125 pounds, he was ranked as high as No. 32 in the national rankings, placed third in the conference as a freshman and earned 60 collegiate victories.

As a coach, Solberg's goal is to provide wrestlers with the focused attention, experience and accountability needed to reach their potential. Having competed at a high level himself and spent a decade developing collegiate wrestlers, he understands what it takes to pursue ambitious goals and is committed to helping each athlete take the next step in his development.

Solberg earned his bachelor's degree from North Dakota State University in 2012 and his MBA from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2020. He lives in Fargo with his wife, Ashley, and their four children, Liam, Everly, Cael and Emmy.
