Katelynn Smedley begins her first year as an assistant athletic trainer with MSUM in 2026-27.

Smedley joins the department after serving as an athletic trainer at Eastern Washington University since 2025. While at Eastern Washington, Smedley worked directly with the cross country and track & field programs. Prior to her time in Cheney, Smedley spent a season as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Jamestown. With the Jimmies, Smedley's primary sport coverages included track & field and men's volleyball. 

Her first full-time athletic training position came in 2023, serving as lead athletic trainer for Whitefish High School in Whitefish, Mont. Smedley helped coordinate coverage for over 700 athletes while with Whitefish's department. Prior to her time in Montana, Smedley spent three years at Valley City State University as both a graduate assistant and intern athletic trainer. She worked with the Viking cross country, track & field, baseball and football programs while in Valley City. 

Smedley holds her undergraduate degree in athletic training from Washington State University. She graduated with her Masters in athletic training from North Dakota State University in 2022. Smedley's professional development has included rock tape functional movement and selective functional movement training.
