MOORHEAD, Minn. — The 2017 season is in the books for the Minnesota State University Moorhead football team.
Here are some notes recapping the Dragons' season.
The Dragons have won 18 games over the past three seasons, tying the most games they won in a three-year span since the 1995, 1996 and 1997 seasons.
MSUM retained two traveling trophies -- the Paddle, which was won for a third straight year with a 51-19 win over U-Mary. The Dragons also retained the Red River Rivalry Showdown trophy with a 49-7 win over Minnesota Crookston.
The Nov. 14 home contest vs. Bemidji State was final football game for 14 Dragon seniors: quarterback

All-NSIC Honors
A total of nine Dragons received postseason honors from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Record Books
The Dragons had some players put their names in the record books and on the top five lists in school history.
Senior quarterback
Demetrius Carr leaves MSUM with two school records. He is the Dragons' all-time leader in passing yardage (7,564) and total offense (8,634).
Senior receiver
Damon Gibson, who was injured in Week 8 and missed the rest of the season, is third all-time with 191 receptions while senior receiver
Hunter Braaten is fourth at 182.
National/NSIC Rankings
MSUM ranked in the top 50 nationally in several categories:
—Braaten was 18th in the nation at 6.6 receptions per game
—Bresnahan ranked 20th in the nation in punt returns (12.4).
—MSUM was 35th in passing yards per game at 253.4.
—MSUM was 43rd with 236 first downs
MSUM also ranked high in several NSIC categories:
—Senior quarterback
Demetrius Carr led the NSIC in passing yards per game (216.9) and was second in total offense (232.4). MSUM led the conference in passing yards per game (253.4).
—Gibson was second in the NSIC at 6.8 receptions per game and fourth in receiving yards per game (81.1)
—Braaten was third in the NSIC at 6.64 receptions per game and fifth in receiving yards per game at 68.7.
—Bresnahan was second in the NSIC in punt return average at 12.4 yards
