Wallenborn's Four Goals Leads Dragons Past Wildcats

WAYNE, Neb. - Freshman forward, Jordyn Wallenborn tied a Minnesota State University Moorhead record for goals in a game as she kicked in a career-high four to lead the Dragons to a 5-3 win over the Wayne State Wildcats on Sunday.

Wallenborn picked up nine points on the day as she also had an assist on the Dragon's game-winning goal that was kicked in from the right wing by Katherine Adams.

The Dragons took a 1-0 lead just 2:24 into the game as Wallenborn scored her first goal on a header fed to her by Abby Roos.

The Wildcats tied the game 26 seconds later on a deflection in front of the net that was scored by Valerie Robinson from Mikayla Comba.

Wallenborn's second goal came at 6:19 in to the first half as she was about 10 feet infront of the net, picking up her tenth goal of the season. Jenna Reed tallied her first assist of the season on the goal.

WSC's Megan Kenealy picked up her first goal of the season on a pass by Tiffani Kellerman to tie the game at 12:36.

At 26:11 the Wildcats were called offsides and it came back to hurt them as the Dragons's Abby Kettler had a shot-on-goal that was rebounded by Wallenborn and fired in at 27:13 to give the Dragons the 3-2 lead.

Adams' goal came at 29:54 to seal the win for the Dragons. It was her second goal of the year.

Wallenborn's final goal of the game came off another rebound shot at 49:37 in the second half. It was just the insurance the Dragons were looking for as WSC's Michaela Lucas tallied a goal at 69:21 to put the Wildcats back within two. Wallenborn has 12 goals this season and two assists for 26 total points.

MSUM goalkeeper, Allison Wanner made five saves in the game over 90 minutes. WSC's Emily Walker was not a fortunate as she only made two saves while allowing five goals to the Dragons.

The Dragons, now 6-9-1 overall (3-8-0 NSIC) will host MInnesota State Mankato and Southwest Minnesota State on back-to-back days next weekend. Saturday's contest against the Mavericks will begin at  noon and Sunday's kick-off against the Mustangs will be at 1 p.m.
