MANKATO,
Minn. - The Minnesota State Universtiy Moorhead Dragons soccer team finished off the 2010 regular season road schedule with a matchup against the Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks Sunday. The Mavericks made good on their shots on goal and came away with a 3-0 win against the Dragons.
Right from the start the Mavericks applied the pressure on the Dragons defensive unit, forcing three high shots at the Dragons net in under a minute. The next Maverick shot found its mark as Brittany Henry got her seventh goal of the season to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead at the 6:41 mark of the contest.
At the halfway point of the first half, Henry found the net again with her second goal of the half at the 20:26 mark of the game to put the lead up to 2-0. A penalty kick by Nicole Dooher at 29:25 would push the lead to 3-0 for the Mavericks who would hold on to win by the same score.
The Dragons fall to 1-11-1 on the season (1-7-1 NSIC) and return home for the remainder of the season as they face off against Wayne State (Neb.) on Saturday at noon at Nemzek Soccer Field.
