CROOKSTON, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon men's basketball team held on to a narrow lead at the end of the game to move to 2-1 overall in league play on Saturday, as they topped the Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagles, 67-60.
The Dragons, now 5-2 overall, went 4-for-6 from the charity stripe in the final minute of the game after leading by three to hold on for the win.
Tarell Clark hit two of the free-throws in the final minute as he was one of the leaders on the team with 15 points in the game.
Dennis Williamson had 19 points to lead the Dragons, picking up his third double-double of the season.
Jake Driscoll matched Clark's 15, tallying 11 points in the first half.
MSUM went into halftime up by three after playing a tight first half. In the first half the score was tied six times and there was a lead change five times.
The Dragons were up by 15 with 9:51 left in the game before the Golden Eagles chipped away the lead to three points with a minute left to play.
MSU Moorhead shot 43 percent in the game while they held UMC to 37 percent. The Dragons also grabbed more rebounds than the Golden Eagles, 41-33.
The Dragons will return home next weekend to host their first conference series. Friday's game is set to tip-off at 8 p.m. against Wayne State (Neb.).
