Dragon Soccer Goes On The Defensive With Latest Recruit

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Dragons Women's soccer team got a boost to the team's defensive core when the team recruited Larissa Crain who comes to the Dragons from the Island of Kauai.

Crain is a four-time letterwinner as a member of the Kapaa High School soccer team. Crain was played three positions at K.H.S. including sweeper and center midfielder while at times showing offensive prowess as a striker. Crain shows tremendous ball handling skills as well as good downfield vision.

Crain was named team captain in 2008 and put forth a very productive season. Crain was an All-Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation Conference All-Star was well as an All-Conference First Team selection. Crain led K.H.S. to a conference second place finish and also finished second at the Hawai'i State Tournament.

For her efforts Crain was selected to the All-Hawai'i Honorable Mention team along with the All-Hawai'i Tournament Team. Crain received team accolades, being selected as the team's most valuable player.

Crain stayed on as captain and led her team to a conference championship and a third place finish at the state tournament. Crain was again named to the conference all-star team. Dragons Head Coach Rollie Bulock is well aware of what Crain brings to the Dragon's 2010 squad.

"Larissa is tremendously athletic and a very soccer savvy player,” Bulock remarked. “She contributed to her highly successful high school team and I expect her to compete right away for a midfield or defensive role on the Dragons. "

The Dragons will look to new additions like Crain to help the team compete with the top teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
