MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons return to Moorhead after a doubleheader against the University of North Dakota Thursday afternoon. The Dragons in conference are coming off a sweep of Minnesota-Crookston where the team scored 14-combined runs in the two contests.
The Dragons open up with a two-game contest against the 10-12 Peacocks of Upper Iowa. After the two conference wins the Dragons currently sit one spot behind the Peacocks entering Saturdays contest.
The Dragons will take on the Winona State Warriors in a doubleheader beginning at noon on Sunday. The Warriors enter their weekend schedule with a 22-8 record overall on the season.
A.J. Hoefer and leadoff hitter
Katie Howland lead the Dragons in batting average with .314 and .309, respectively.
Mara Litzer and
Alexa D'Onofrio both pitched well with Litzer allowing only one run while striking out eight batters on her way to a three-hit complete game.
D'Onofrio allowed only two runs over seven strong innings as the Dragons poured on the runs to secure two NSIC wins. The Dragons look to break into the top-10 in the NSIC as the regular season reaches its peak.
