MARSHALL, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons softball team lost both games in a twin bill on Monday as the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs took game one 7-2 and the second game 6-4.

The Dragons move to 5-35 overall and 3-19 in league play, with three series left in the regular season.

In game one, the Dragons left seven runners on base before advancing a runner home in the top of the sixth inning to move their deficit to 6-1. The run was scored by Jessica Mroz as she advanced home on an illegal pitch.

The Mustangs gained the run back to their lead in the bottom half of the inning before the Dragons tallied another run in the top of the seventh. Desi DeMarco scored the run on an error committed by the Mustang's left fielder.

In game two, the Mustangs went ahead 3-0 after the first two innings before the Dragons came back to tie the game in the top of the third.

Molly Keeler drew a walk to lead-off the top of the third. Nicole Jasperson, running for Keeler, was knocked in on a two-run home run by DeMarco with two outs. It was DeMarco's fourth home run of the year and her second in two days.

Betsy Dickson followed DeMarco with her second home run of the last two days in the next at-bat to tie the game.

The Dragons took the lead 4-3 in the next inning as Sam Adolph, running for Casey Preston, capitalized on a passed ball to score.

The lead would hold until the bottom of the sixth inning as a three-run home run by the Mustang's A Neumann would move the score to 6-4 in the favor of the home team. SMSU would hold on to the lead and take the pair of games.

MSU Moorhead will face the Bemidji State Beavers (Minn.) on Wednesday with the doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. It will be the last regular season road test for the Dragons before they return home for the final conference series against Mary (N.D.) and Northern State (S.D.) on May 1-2.
