MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons started their last home stand with a doubleheader matchup against the Mary Marauders. A last inning rally by the Marauders preserved the win as visitors took both games.
In the opening game, both team pitched well early on. The only run produced in the first five innings came in the second inning when the Marauders capitalized on two errors to take the lead.
Neither starter gave up an earned run through five innings until the sixth when the Marauders hit for four runs in the inning. The Dragons fell in the first game by a final of 5-0.
The Dragons exercised patience early in the second game, earning three walks to start the inning can took advantage on a
Casey Preston single to take the lead.
Sam Adolph would earn the fourth walk in the inning, which gave the Dragons a 2-0 lead.
The Dragons had a 3-1 lead going into the seventh and got the first out on one pitch. The Marauders caught fire and rallied late for five runs in the inning to sink the Dragons by a final of 6-3.
The Dragons, 7-37 (5-21 NSIC), finish off the season on Sunday with a doubleheader against Northern State with the first game scheduled to start at noon.
